PURPOSE:To obtain the titled high-quality polymer with suppressing the formation of by-products outside of a reactor, by carrying out polymerization in the presence of a catalyst consisting of a transition metal derivative and an organoaluminum derivative under specific conditions in a not batch way, taking out the reaction product, adding an organic peroxide to it so that the catalyst is deactivated. CONSTITUTION:A feed containing ethylene or ethylene and a monomer consisting of a comonomer copolymerizable with ethylene is fed to a polymerization zone nonbatchwise in the presence of a catalyst consisting of a transition metal derivative (e.g., titanium tetrachloride, etc.) and an organoaluminum derivative (e.g., titanium tetrachloride, etc.) and an organoaluminum derivative (e.g., triethylalumium, etc.) at >=200atm. pressure at >=125 deg.C, it is polymerized, the polymerization product is taken out nonbatchwise, an organic peroxide (e.g., acetyl peroxide, etc.) is added to the formed polymer before its recovery, the remaining catalyst is deactivated, and the formed polymer is separated from the unreacted monomer, and recovered.
