PURPOSE:To prevent the damage of the surface of a product at the time of taking out by using an iron-based metal mold splittable in a direction meeting at nearly right angles to a pressing direction when a carbon/carbon composite material is produced by carbonization under uniaxial pressing. CONSTITUTION:An iron-based metal mold having a compsn. consisting of 0.03-1.25wt.% C, 15-30wt.% Cr and the balance Fe is prepd. Two lateral plates 7, 7' are integrated with bolts 9 and the resulting die 1 is fixed on a pedestal 2 with bolts. A body 6 to be treated consisting of carbon fibers and a matrix made from carbonaceous pitch as starting material is put in the die 1 and carbonized by hot pressing with a shaft 4. The die 1 is then separated from the pedestal 2 and split into the lateral plates 7, 7' by removing the bolts and the resulting carbon/carbon composite material is taken out. |
