PURPOSE:To provide a catalyst suitable as the above-mentioned catalyst by constituting the catalyst to be used for a sulfur recovery process by a Claus method of titanium oxide and inert aluminosilicate. CONSTITUTION:A catalyst is constituted of 97-80wt% titanium oxide as an active component and 3-20wt% inert aluminosilicate as a molding reinforcing material. The catalyst is prepd. by kneading, grinding, compacting and further granulating both components. Since no acitve alumina is used in this method, the catalyst is kept free from deterioration owing to the sulfation of active alumina, and the Claus reactivity of titanium oxide, the superior characteristics for the hydrolyzation activity for org. sulfur compds. and the mechanical strength of the molded catalyst under practicable conditions are maintained nearly permanently. |
