The invention relates to an improvement in the production of mould plates used in the continuous casting of steel. The plate according to the invention has an explosively applied cladding (3) of nickel or the like on the side facing the molten steel. A table (6), which also has an explosively applied cladding, of stainless steel or the like is situated beneath the cladding (3) in the upper part of the plate.
