A formwork element is described which permits in a simple way removal of the formwork of a reinforced, force-transmitting connecting joint in concrete components. For this purpose, a welded wire mesh is bent such that it is anchored in the concrete and also projects into the free space of the joint. Covering parts impermeable to concrete and acting as formwork are then fastened to this welded wire mesh. In a preferred exemplary embodiment, the covering parts impermeable to concrete likewise consist of a cut-to-size welded wire mesh which is covered with plastic sheeting on one or both sides.
