<p>This invention relates to a chest fluid drainage bottle (10) having a fluid collection chamber (26A,B,C) connectable to receive fluid sucked from a patient's chest, and an air leak detection system comprising a fluid filled U-tube (62A), downstream of the air space which overlies the fluid collecting chamber (26A,B,C), cooperating with said air space to define an air leak detector substantially insensitive to small intermittent variations in upstream pressure yet providing an observer with a reliable visual indication of a continuous upstream leak. An antisplash baffle (B) is located adjacent the outlet of the U-tube (62A) effective to prevent the fluid therein from leaving same and possibly entering the vacuum system upon the application of larger than normal intermittent upstream positive pressure surges.</p> |
