PURPOSE:To prevent an internal short-circuit due to contact between nickel and cadmium during operation of an electric charge and discharge, by integrally forming a fine porous film on the surface of a cadmium layer or a cadmium active material holding layer of a negative plate. CONSTITUTION:A water suspension of 0.1-1.0wt% ethylene tetrafluorid is thinly applied to the surface of an active material layer or an active material holding layer of a cadmium negative plate forming a negative electrode of a nickel- cadmium storage battery, and dried to form a fine porous film. Accordingly, a negative electrode surface is firmly coated by a fluorin resin thin film, and cadmium can not be moved but firmly held as it is, consequently the cadmium is never contacted with nickel of a positive electrode during operation of electric charge and discharge, in this way, an internal short circuit is prevented and a battery life can be increased. |
