PURPOSE:To prevent the scattering of spatters to the other side of the work by bringing a backing material beforehand in the part of the work on the other side of the work to be formed into contact with a through-hole in the stage of irradiating a laser beam to the work from one side and penetrating the same to the other side. CONSTITUTION:Plastic powder 8 is packed as a backing material in the forward end part of the work 1, and is pressed by a piston 9 which is in sliding contact with the inside wall of the work 1. When a laser beam 3 is irradiated from the outside of the work 1 toward the prescribed position in the forward end part thereof, the irradiated part evaporates and part thereof scatters as spatters to the irradiating side of the beam 3. When the beam 3 penetrates further through the work 1, the powder 8 evaporates explosively and the vapor 10 thereof gushes out from the penetrated injection hole 2. The spatters are thus prevented from scattering into the work 1 and sticking in the hole 2. |
