PURPOSE:To eliminate the hysteresis of development and improve image reproducibility, and to improve fidelity, by providing a noncontacting developer removing means on the surface of a developer holding means, and removing a residual developer on the surface of the developer holding means after development. CONSTITUTION:A residual toner layer on a sleeve 2 as the developer holding means after passing through a development part A is removed by the noncontacting means and the surface of the sleeve 2 where the residual toner layer is held reaches the toner reservoir in a hopper 1 by the successive rotation; and air 7 is blown by a developer removing device 6 arranged closely to the surface of the developing sleeve 2 before fresh toner is supplied, removing the residual toner layer from the sleeve surface temporarily. Thus, the sleeve surface 2 is coated with the developer after being cleaned, so invariably stable developing performance is maintained. |
