PURPOSE:To improve the contact performance between a toner carrier and an image carrier of a float electrode type developing device and at the same time to prevent the generation of flaws to the image carrier, by using an elastic toner carrier. CONSTITUTION:A butadiene rubber film having about 0.8mm. thickness and about 40-degree rubber hardness is properly bonded to the outer circumference surface of a sleeve-shaped conductive substrate 2 to obtain a dielectric layer 3. Then a dispersant obtained by mixing about 30vol.% metallic fine particles of Al, Ni iron, stainless steel, copper, etc. of 50-150mu grain sizes into liquid butadiene rubber is wound with 0.7mm. thickness on the layer 3. Then the surface of the layer 3 is ground by a grindstone after vulcanization to obtain a diffusion layer 4 of about 0.5mm. thickness. As a result, the metallic fine particles are exposed to the surface of the layer 4 to function as micro-electrodes. Thus a toner carrier 1 has 60-degree rubber hardness as a whole. A toner 6 is stuck on the carrier 1, and the carrier 1 is pressed to a photoreceptor 10 to perform the development. |
