PURPOSE:To reduce the time and energy required for replacing a workpiece by radially sliding more than one holding jaw each fitted in one of the radial guide grooves which equally devide the circumference of the front of a chuck body and allowing said jaws to hold or release a workpiece. CONSTITUTION:The operation of a revolving cylinder for moving holding jaws allows a member 15 for sliding a slider 10 to move axially. Then, the slider 10, whose wedge-shaped engaging parts on its inner end are fitted in the wedge- shaped engaging grooves 15a on the outer periphery of the member 15, moves inward through a wedge action to permit jaws 4 to hold a workpiece. Moving the member 15 in the opposite direction allows the jaws 4 to move outward releasing said workpiece. |
