PURPOSE:To improve the effect of energy economization by predicting the heating state at the current point of time of a billet group and the required flow rate of fuel after division, finding such intended heating curves at which the predicted flow rate of fuel is minimized and controlling the operation. CONSTITUTION:The plural billets 4 to be heated in a furnace are divided to a number of groups by each three of divided moving hearths, and the billets are heated in accordance with the respective heating curves. A calculation part 102 for billet temp. calculates the current temp. of the whole billet 4 and obtains the internal temp. distribution theta thereof.
