PURPOSE:To make a vertical motor smaller and simplify its construction, by disposing a lower end of a stopper shaft engaging with a bearing subjected to an upward thrust in a vicinity of an upper surface of a rotor shaft and mounting them on a coaxial shaft. CONSTITUTION:A bearing 1 supports a downward thrust load of a rotor shaft and the weight of itself. The bearing 1 is engaged with the rotor shaft 3, fixed by a bearing nut 4 and supported on the side of a fixed body by a bearing box 2. On the other hand, a bearing 7 for an upward thrust is engaged with a stopper shaft 8, fixed by a bearing nut 9 and accommodated in a bearing box 6 so that it is supported on the side of the fixed body through a bearing cover 5. Therefore, the bearing 7 for the upward thrust is operated only when the upward thrust is applied, then a construction wherein cooling and lubricating are effected easily is obtained, whereby the device is made smaller in size and simplified.
