The invention relates to a process for heat treating heat recoverable articles with an As at room temperature or above. The articles are cooled from the Beta-phase to above Ms and held there for a sufficient time to stabilize the transformation temperatures. Heat recoverable articles are described comprising Cu-Zn-Al alloys, eventually with additions of cobalt or boron as well as thermoresponsive actuators including said articles.
