PURPOSE:The major body of solid beverage containing a component that foams, when meeting water, is bored to form a space for introducing water and the body is covered with an edible coating slightly soluble in water on the outer surface except the space for introducing water to give a solid beverage showing very interesting dissolution behavior. CONSTITUTION:Sodium bicarbonate, an acidulant, saccharides and edible high polymer such as rice flour are mixed and subjected to compression molding under moisted conditions to prepare the major body of the solid beverage, then the body is coated with edible substance slightly soluble in water 1 except the part for introducing water 3. The coating treatment is carried out under moisture- heated conditions where the saccharides in the major body changes into sticky syrup to form the coating. When the resultant solid beverage is put in water, water comes into the space 3 where the sodium bicarbonate reacts with water to evolve carbon dioxide gas, which blows out through the narrow hole just like volcano eruption. |
