PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of dot omission and to enhance a recording speed, by a method wherein imagewise corresponding signal voltage is applied to a pin electrode provided in opposed relation to a dielectric surface and ultraviolet rays are irradiated to the pin electrode to ionize an atmosphere. CONSTITUTION:A pin electrode 4 is provided in opposed relation to the dielectric surface 3 of an image receiver 1 and a corona discharge wire 8 is provided in the vicinity of the pin electrode 4. In this state, the image receiver 1 is moved to the direction shown by an arrow and imagewise corresponding signal voltage is applied to the pin electrode 4 from a signal power source 6. At the same time, high voltage is applied between the corona discharge wire 8 and a shield plate 9 from a high voltage source 7 and corona discharge is generated from the wire and the leading end part of the pin electrode 4 is irradiated with corona rays containing a large amount of ultraviolet rays through the opening 10 of the shield plate 9. By this method, air in the vicinity ofthe leading end of the pin electrode 4 is easily ionized and an electrostatic latent image free from dot omission can be formed on the surface of the dielectric 3. |
