In an assembly of a bearing (16) and a sleeve (10) for mounting on a shaft, the sleeve has a plurality of tapering portions (12) arranged axially in series on its outer surface. To minimise the radial dimensions of the mounting when the bearing is mounted on a shaft, the bore of the inner race ring (17) of the bearing has a plurality of tapering portions (18) which correspond to and co-operate with those of the sleeve. Tightening of nut (14) displaces the ring (17) axially, causing the sleeve (10) to be radially clamped onto the shaft. <IMAGE> |
