A telescopic rod which may be securely fastened between two surfaces comprises telescoping members 1 and 2. The ends of the rod members are equipped with rotatable discs 4 and 5 and at least one of which 5 is secured to the rod 1, 2 by means of a screw 6 in such a manner that a relative turning movement between rod 1, 2 and screw 6 will longitudinally displace the disc in relation to the rod. The rod 1, 2 is equipped with a ratchet mechanism 11, 12 which prevents a secured rod from being unscrewed.
