High-temperature oxygen probe

In an oxygen probe, one of the two electrodes is constantly exposed to mechanical and chemical corrosion, the service life thereby often being substantially shortened. It is expensive to replace said electrode because it is made of noble metal. In the novel oxygen probe, said electrode is produced with the aid of a ceramic matrix in whose pores the desired electrode metal is incorporated. The novel electrode is cheaper, more durable, completely insensitive to pressure and chemically neutral, and it can also be used near the melting point of said electrode metal.
