Novel phenoxyalkanecarboxylates of the formula <IMAGE> in which X<1> represents hydrogen, fluorine, chlorine, bromine, iodine, nitro or cyano, X<2> represents hydrogen, fluorine, chlorine, bromine or iodine, R<1>, R<2>, R<3> R<4>, R<5> and R<6> independently of one another represent hydrogen or C1-C5-alkyl, Y represents oxygen, sulphur, a -NR group or a -COO group, R represents hydrogen or C1-C5-alkyl, m represents the numbers 1, 2 or 3, n represents the numbers 0 or 1 and p represents the numbers 1, 2 or 3, a plurality of processes for the preparation of the substances according to the invention, their use as herbicides, novel starting materials for the preparation of the compounds according to the invention, and the synthesis of these novel starting materials.
