PURPOSE:To prevent an ionic film from being formed on the surface of a image forming body, or to remove the formed ionic film, by bringing an ion exchange material into contact with the surface of the image forming body. CONSTITUTION:A member which has at least either one of a cation and an anion image material is brought into contact with the surface of the image forming body to remove the ionic material adsorbed to the surface of the image forming body by exchange reaction to H in a sulfonic acid group and OH in an amine group, preventing the formation of the ionic film or removing the ionic film. For example, ion seeds of NH<+>4, NO<->3, etc., are removed from the surface of the image forming body by reactions as shown by reaction formulas I , II, and III. In a figure, 12 and 13 are cleaning members provided only for the purpose of the removal of ionic materials separately from the removal of residual toner. Further, 12 and 13 are rolls having surfaces made of a cation exchange material and an anion exchange material and rub against the surface of a drumlike photoreceptor 4 while rotating in the same direction and at the same peripheral speed with the surface of the photoreceptor 4. |
