PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for any gas tank and make it possible to start the application of voltage after the pressure of the gas in a container has exceeded a prescribed value, by providing a heater inside or outside the container for heating a liquid in the container at the starting of the operation. CONSTITUTION:A container 3 is provided at its bottom with a heater 14a employing an electric resistance means. The heater is connected to a power source 16 through a switch 15. A controller 17 is connected to a pressure sensor 18 in the container. A pump 19 for spraying a cooling liquid 6 on a winding 1 and a core 2 is provided. At starting, the liquid 6 is preheated by the heater 14a, since a mixed gas 5 and the liquid 6 are low in temperature and hence the gas pressure and the dielectric strength are low. When the gas pressure exceeds a prescribed value, this is sensed by the sensor 18, and a voltage is applied to start. After the application of voltage, the temperature is raised by the heat generated from the winding 1, the core 2 and so forth, therefore, the pressure sensor 18 turns OFF the switch 15 through the controller 17 to cut the current supply to the heater. |
