The acoustic insulation board (1) is of a fiber or foam material, with a number of narrow slit openings (3) at right angles to the board sides. When installed at one wall of a cavity wall structure, the openings are filled with a weighting material (2), and especially of gypsum or concrete, to increase the acoustic insulation effect, while air can pass through the fibers for the air spring action. The air passage also prevents resonance in the air layer between the cavity walls. The gypsum inserts (2) give a mechanical bond to the board material, and increase its shear resistance with a low structural stiffness. The weighting sections (2) can be structured as resonators to increase the acoustic insulation.
