The rod antenna (11) has an antenna coil (30) for connection to a reading device (18) for reading an identification number from a transponder. The coil is provided in a probe tube (12.2) which is axially moveable in a telescopic manner and lockable w.r.t. a holding tube (12.1). The holding tube may be anchored in a block (16) which is provided with a mounting surface (17) for the reading device.
