PURPOSE:To detect internal defects of a continuous casting slab on a basis of a measured value obtained by measuring the oscillation of a blowpipe for gas cutting or sounds at a gas cutting time. CONSTITUTION:A blowpipe 2 is moved in the direction of an arrow 3, and the blow pipe 2 is always oscillated and generates a loud sound because oxygen for cutting is discharged from the blowpipe 2 in a high speed for the purpose of cutting a region B which is not cut yet. The jet of the cutting gas is affected by division of the center part into two, and internal defects are detected by the oscillation of the blowpipe 2 or the sound. Since internal defects are detected in the stage of gas cutting of the continuous casting slab, this method contributes the reduction of labor, and the continuous casting slab judged to be indefectible is sent directly to a heating furnace or a rolling mill. The degree of internal defects can be evaluated quantitatively. |
