<p>ROOFING TILES A roofing tile comprising a rectangular sheet of weather resistant material, for example, galvanised metal, especially galvanised steel, sheet asbestos or even plastics materials, the tile being provided along one edge with a fixing flange, the flange lying in a plane substantially parallel to the plane of the sheet and above said plane, the flange also partially overlapping the said edge of the sheet so that the connection between the flange and the edge of the sheet forms an undercut portion of "Z" configuration in section, and the other edge of the sheet being provided with a downwardly extending flange aranged at substantially the same inclination as the connecting portion between the fixing flange and the sheet, the arrangement being such that when the tiles are laid in conventional overlapping relation with the fixing flange of one tile nailed or otherwise secured to the battens of a roof and being overlapped by a second tile similarly secured the downwardly depending flange on a second tile interlocks into the undercut portion of the first tile to secure the said second tile against lifting in wind. The invention also provides a method of tiling a roof using the tiles of the invention.</p> |
