PURPOSE:To manufacture dry gel having a uniform thickness without causing cracking and to inexpensively obtain glass, without melting by using a glass container coated with a polymer and provided with high flatness at the bottom in the manufacture of dry gel by a sol-gel method. CONSTITUTION:The inside of a glass container provided with high flatness at the bottom is coated with a polymer such as PVC or fluororesin. Sol obtd. by hydrolyzing metallic alkoxide is charged into the coated container and converted into gel. Thus, dry gel is manufactured without causing cracking. By heating the dry gel, the desired glass is obtd without melting and with high mass productivity. |
