In the case of an apparatus for taking heat from the ground having pipes containing a fluid medium for heat pumps; to feed large amounts of heat with small space requirements, a carrier body (1), open at the bottom and covered at the top and insertable into the earth, is provided with a coiled channel (4) formed in the inner peripheral surface (1') to receive a conduit (5) and open towards the central axis of the carrier body (1) and covered with a cylinder (6) of a material with large heat conductivity.
