A novel disintegrating device, in particular for comminuting the solid-phase content of filament-like, fibrous and/or lumpy materials and/or liquids containing sludge has a rotating disintegrating disc which has teeth with cutting edges on the outside surface and which is enclosed by one or more stationary rings having teeth with cutting edges on the inside surface. In the device, the teeth of the disintegrating disc (11), on the one hand, and the teeth of the ring or the rings (21, 22), on the other hand, are constructed with cutting edges (14; 23, 24) which are situated opposite one another at an angle and optionally preliminary disintegration plates (12) are present in the inlet section (19) upstream of the disintegrating disc (11) and/or ribbing (13) is present in the outlet section (20) downstream of the disintegrating disc (11). The preliminary disintegration plates (12) and/or the ribbing (13) are constructed with cutting edges (14) situated at an angle with respect to the cutting edges (23, 24) of the ring or rings (21, 22).
