The electron gun comprises a resistive lens of the stacked electrode-resistive-block type. The lens comprises a first or entrance section which includes two resistive blocks between each adjacent pair of electrode plates. A second or exit section which is in series with the first section, includes only one resistive block between each adjacent pair of electrode plates. Inclusion of two resistive blocks in each stage of the first section results in their being electrically in parallel so that the bulk resistance of each stage in the first section is one-half that of each second section stage.
