PURPOSE:To provide an analog arithmetic unit which is simple in construction, is small in area, is easy to integrate, consumes less electric power, permits high speed processing and is suited for a contrast detector of picture image signals, etc. by obtaining the output signal current that indicates the degree of uniformity in the levels of plural inputs. CONSTITUTION:An analog arithmetic unit 13 determines the square of the difference between both output voltages with respect to each of all the pairs of adjacent two photoelectric conversion parts within the arrangement of photoelectric conversion parts 111-115 and generates the constrast signal which is the total sum thereof, thereby performing the signal processing for the purpose of determining the degree of uniformity in the levels of the respective outputs from signal lines 121-125. The parts 111-115 are integrated and formed on a semiconductor substrate, and consist respectively of p-n junctions, electric charge storage parts, MOS switches and potential detection means. |
