PURPOSE:To apply the titled stress layer and to prevent stress corrosion cracking by working a product or a half-finished product from a blank subjected to soln. heat treatment and rapidly cooling it after heat treatment for precipitation hardening. CONSTITUTION:In the manufacture of a bolt or a spring with steel for special use requiring heat treatment for precipitation hardening such as ''SUS630'' or ''Inconel X750 or 710'', a blank subjected to soln. heat treatment is worked to the shape of a half-finished product or the shape of an end product. The worked blank is subjected to heat treatment for precipitation hardening, and it is rapidly cooled by water cooling or other method to form a residual compressive stress layer on the surface of the bolt or the spring. |
