A cylindre is placed on two pillars (10, 11) with adjustable spacing, comprising two supports (12, 13) adjustable in elevation. The control (31, 33, 34) of the supports (12, 13) and of the pillars (10, 11) comprises an angled transmission (29, 30) and spindles (35, 36). It is located between the beams (4, 5) of the chassis of the wagon (1), so as to obtain a lowed construction of the wagon and an arrangment of the control wheels (27, 28) at a free access location above the chassis. These supports (12, 13) have security vertical blocks (23) between which a bearing surface (20) is arranged for the axis of the cylindre. These may be pushed from the bearing surface by a lifting head (26) provided with an articulated arm (25).
