SELECTOR FOR LIGHT EMITTING DIODE

PURPOSE:To remove connection defectives of an optical fiber with a light emitting diode after the LED is fixed on an optical connector while enabling reduction in cost eliminating the need for selection of the LED by providing a member for fixing the LED to be selected on one end of the optical fiber while an optical quantity measuring apparatus is provided on the other end thereof. CONSTITUTION:One end of a plastic optical fiber 40 is fixed to a light receiving element 20 with a fixing jig 6 and inputted into an optical power meter 30 with a signal line 5. The other end of the optical fiber 40 is provided an opening for allowing the insertion of an LED 10 and fixed with a fixing jig 7. The opening for insertion of the LED 10 is worked at such high accuracy as about + or -0.1mm. with respect to the overall size accuracy of the LED used. A space A of 0.2- 0.3mm. is provided between the light emitting surface of the LED 10 and the end face of the fiber to avoid the contact therebetween at the insertion of the LED. This can create the condition the same that the LED is fixed on an optical connector thereby enabling insertion of the LED selected within errors of + or -0.2dB as compared with the case of mounting it on the optical connector.
