<p>PURPOSE:To read a mark at any position in a document, by providing a means for inputting position information showing position of the mark on the document in the running-direction. CONSTITUTION:The entire-surface pattern of the document 2 is inputted by an optical input mechanism 3 and converted by a control mechanism 4 into a binary signal, which is stored in a memory 5. Then, control information showing which end (left, right, front, or rear) of the document a timing mark 13 is at in the running direction 12 of the document is inputted from an input mechanism 3 to the memory 5. An edge detecting mechanism 7 detects the edge of the document where there is the timing mark 13 and stores the position information on the document edge in the input pattern in the memory 5. A timing mark detecting mechanism 8 detects the timing mark from said control information, position information, and input pattern. A mark recognizing mechanism 9 discriminates a data mark 14 from the timing mark position information.</p> |
