PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a measuring apparatus, for a peripheral length, by which the peripheral length of a metal ring can be measured more precisely by solving the problem that uniform tension cannot be given to a metal roller. SOLUTION: The measuring apparatus is provided with a driving roller 6, a coupled driving roller 8 which is provided in the vertically lower part of the driving roller 6 by keeping a prescribed interval and which is freely raised and lowered with reference to the driving roller 6, a tension-giving means which gives tension to the metal ring W when the metal ring W is stretched on both rollers 6, 8 and a measuring means 15 which detects the displacement of the roller 8 while the metal ring W to which the tension is given by the tension-giving means is being turned and driven by the driving roller 6 and which measures the peripheral length of the metal ring W on the basis of the distance between both rollers 6, 8. The tension-giving means is composed of a shaft support member 7 which shaft-supports the roller 8, which is engaged with a rail member 10 installed in the vertical direction and which is provided to be freely slidable along the rail member 10 and a plumb bob which is provided integrally with the member 7. The measuring means 15 detects the displacement of the roller 8 on a straight line which connects the axial centers of both rollers 6, 8.
