PURPOSE:To secure accuracy of a printing position, by a method wherein the feed quantity of a medium to be fed by a feeding part and a predetermined feed quantity are compared with each other to obtain a correction value through calculation, and an error in the feed quantity of the medium is corrected by the correction value. CONSTITUTION:When a passbook 10 is inserted into an insert port 1, the number (a) of feed steps in the period from the time when the leading end of the passbook 10 is detected by a transmitting-type sensor 9 to the time when the rear end of the passbook 10 is detected is counted by a counting circuit 11. The ratio a/b of the counted value (a) to a predetermined number (b) of passing steps of the passbook 10 is calculated by a calculating part 14, and is used as a correction value. Then, the passbook 10 is fed by a predetermined number (c) of line feed steps for detecting the position of a precedingly printed line, a predetermined number (d) of steps for determining the printing position and a predetermined number (e) of line shifting feed. At this time, a stepping motor 13 is driven by numbers of steps obtained by correcting each number of the steps by multiplying the correction value a/b, thereby errors in feed due to errors in feeding rollers R3-R6 are reduced. |
