PURPOSE:To improve both the compression factor and processing time of data for the processing system which uses the contour specific information on characters and pictures to a storage data, by using a coefficient obtained from the coordinate information on a sample point and the tilt information between sample points to the storage data. CONSTITUTION:A sample point Pi is properly set on an optional character contour 2, and X and Y coordinate values Xi and Yi are obtained. Then a tilt mi= (yi+1-yi/xi+1-xi) is obtained between sample points Pi and Pi+1 which are adjacent to each other. Based on this tilt information (m), coefficients bi, ci and di of a sectional cubic polynomial are obtained. The values of these coefficients bi, ci and di are properly stored in a storage medium together with the coordinate value (xi, yi) in the form of the specific information on the contour 2. Furthermore the stored data is read out, and the value of (y) is obtained in response to (x) of a section (xi<=x<=xi+1). Then this value of (y) is delivered in the form of an approximate curve signal of the contours of characters and pictures which are passing through the point Pi. |
