PURPOSE:To provide a clogging preventing device for ink jet printer capable of hermetically sealing a print head unit in stable condition at the time of non-printing by such an arrangement wherein the print head unit is capped with a simple mechanism composed of springs and links, and the capped condition is positively maintained even if external disturbance is applied. CONSTITUTION:A carriage 7 moves in the direction of standby position 7B and pushes a movable base 30 to the left and causes a link 32 to rotate in the direction of arrow E with shafts 45, 46 used as fulcrums. The movable base 30 moves to the position of a cap by being pushed forward, and then it is pushed forward to the position shown by 2 dot chain lines H by the operation of springs 70, 71, and the carriage 7 stops between stoppers 65, 66. Even if the carriage is moved slightly to the right by external disturbance, a capping member is pulled back to the position of cap by the action of a spring 72 for maintaining condition. |
