PURPOSE:To obtain the titled substance in high yield in reacting iodine with iodine pentafluoride and a perfluoroolefin, by using antimony, etc. as a catalyst and small amount of a lower perfluoroalkyl compound, etc. having a high thermal conductivity as a diluent to remove effectively the heat. CONSTITUTION:Iodine is reacted with iodine pentafluoride and a perfluoroolefin as raw materials in the presence of antimony, molybdenum, tungsten or a compound thereof as a catalyst and a lower perfluoroalkyl compound, lower perfluoroalkyl iodide or sulfur hexafluoride as a diluent usually at about 0-150 deg.C, preferably about 40-80 deg.C, under ordinary pressure or higher pressure to give the aimed compound. The amount of the diluent is usually about 0.001-0.3, preferably about 0.01-0.1, of the weight of the raw material iodine pentafluoride. Pentafluoroethyl iodide, hexafluoroisopropyl iodide or sulfur hexafluoride is preferred for the diluent. |
