PURPOSE:To prevent the breakdown of a ring gear by eliminating the springing- out of an inertia slide pinion even when a starter motor is started as a hydraulic pump in a starter with a pump. CONSTITUTION:A starter 2 with a pump comprises a motor unit 3, an inertia slide type pinion 4 and a hydraulic pump 5, and the pinion 4 engages with a ring gear 7 of an engine at starting. Oil discharged from the pump 2 flows into a cylinder 9, and thereby an outboard engine is lifted and lowered. When a hydraulic switch 26 is shifted onto the UP side, a direction shifting valve 16 is shifted to the right, while a main engage 14 is turned ON. A short-circuit engage switch 15 is not turned ON, since a current is prevented by a rectifier 27, and in this case, the entire voltage of a battery 12 is parted by a serial resistor 13 to be impressed on a motor. Thereby the starting rotation of the motor 3 is slowed down, and thus the motor 3 starts its operation without making the inertia slide pinion 4 spring out and pushes up the rod 22 of a cylinder 20. |
