In this storage tank, in an outer cylindrical container, the cylinder wall of which is assembled from half-shells, the half-shell (4) facing the sun and the cover (16) of the container being transparent, an inner water container is arranged whose surface has a radiation-absorbing layer and into which an electrical heating element and a heat exchanger lead from the exterior. The inner container (8) is vacuum-insulated with respect to the outer container, and the transparent parts (4,16) of the outer container have, between bracings (5,6,7), indentations (6a) by which the radiation is concentrated onto the inner container (8). <IMAGE>
