Silver/metal oxide alloy and its use as electrical contact material

A silver/metal oxide alloy is provided which is suitable as an electrical contact material which has high resistance to sticking and wear due to arcing. The contact material is obtained by internal oxidation of a silver alloy which is essentially composed of 3 to 9 % by weight Sn, 1 to 3 % by weight of In, 0.2 to 3.0 % by weight of Cd, 0.05 to 1 % by weight of Ni, 0.3 to 0.8 % by weight of Cu, the rest being silver and accidental contaminants.
