A regenerable electrical layer capacitor which consists of at least two metal layers (2, 3) of opposite polarity between which a dielectric layer (4) produced by glow-polymerisation is located, has a sheath which consists of a housing base (1) and a cover (8). The housing base (1) is at the same time the supporting material for the capacitor and, in the region of the capacitor construction, has a board-shaped projection (7). The connecting elements (9, 10) arranged in the housing cover (8) are completely extrusion-coated at the outlet point (A). The housing base (1) and cover (8) are bonded to one another and the connecting elements (9, 10) are soldered to the contact layers (5, 6). <IMAGE>
