PURPOSE:To prevent internal cracking by providing a protective atmosphere chamber which protects the inside and outside surfaces of the billet on an outlet side and the melt surface on the outlet side and providing a cutter and a plug rolling mill provided with a discharge cycle in said chamber. CONSTITUTION:A protective atmosphere chamber 10 for protecting the inside and outside surfaces of a hollow steel billet 3 on an outlet side and the melt surface on the outlet side is provided in a continuous casting device which maintains the solidifying point of the billet at the position higher than the melt surface in a mold 2 and casts said billet. A cutter 5 is installed in the chamber 10 and a plug rolling mill 6 consisting of a rolling roll and a plug is provided following to said cutter. When the billet 3 attains a specified length, the billet is discharged with a conveying carriage 7. |
