Multi-bath treatment, e.g. electrolytic, of work-pieces is carried out in an open-ended barrel, rotated about its axis by redn. drive motor. The assembly is pivoted about a fixed transverse axis between a slanted filling position, its mouth below a filling spout, and a vertical position, mouth up, emptying through a grille in the base. Treatment liquids are held in independent storage tanks, with separate pumps and pipes to the grille is above a fixed receiving hopper at any inclination of the barrel. Below it receivers on a carousel lead back to the storage tanks. This compact installation economises on fluids and pollution of successive stages by drag-out, and on energy losses where baths have to be heated, as storage tanks can be lagged. The electrolyte is fed in through a hollow spindle on the axis of the barrel, running down over the cathode disc, the edge of which dips below the electrolyte level in working conditions.
|
