PURPOSE:To miniaturize a printing apparatus, by integrally connecting a hammer mechanism, the shift mechanism of a type wheel and a type selecting motor to the internal space and the lower part of an inverted cup shaped type wheel to eliminate a dead space. CONSTITUTION:A drive shaft 23 fixed to the central part of a type wheel 14 is pierced through hammer mechanisms 15, 16, 17, 18 to fix the plunger 21 of a solenoid mechanism and connected to the shaft 22a of a type selecting motor 22. In this structure, when a type selecting signal is sent to the motor 22, the type wheel 14 is rotated through couplings 27, 26 and the shaft 23 to position the selected type under the hammer 15. At this time, when the type is present at the upper stage of a spoke 32, a solenoid coil 20 is excited so as to bring a guide 24 to an N pole and the plunger 21 is stationary. On the other hand, when the type is present at the lower stage of the spoke 32, the guide 24 is brought to an S pole by the excitation of the solenoid coil 20 and the plunger 21 is attracted by the guide 24 while the shaft 23 is raised to draw up the type wheel 14 and the type at the lower stage is positioned under the hammer 15 to carry out printing. |
