PURPOSE:To avoid the deterioaration of reading accuracy owing to separation of a character train image, by making use of the character separation information and the reading result of an OCR to reform a character image and then reading again the character. CONSTITUTION:An erroneously separated character comparator 6 decides the coincidence between continuous (n) units of character categories among those delivered from a character recognizer 5 and then stored in a register 11 and an optical character category train within an erroneously separated character memory 8. When the coincidence is obtained, a controller 20 transfers the separation information to a bit chekcing circuit 7 from a separation information storing register 10. The circuit 7 decides the possibility for an inaccurate separating state of a character image through a character separator 2. If the possibility is decided, (n) units of character images are read again out of a pattern memory 9 in the form of one character image. Then the recognizer 5 performs rereading. |
