The chair has a seat formed from a rectangular frame (1) supporting an elastic material, with provision for mounting the seat on feet (7,8) which raises it above the ground. The outer covering of the chair seat is formed so that it offers open sided cylindrical spaces round the periphery of the seat. Tubular electric lamps are fitted inside these cylindrical spaces, with the radiant light being emitted through the open part of the walls of the cylindrical enclosures. An electric cable (16) carries supply to the lamps. The seat may be left in place for architectural effect or may be detached from its feet (8) and attached to a wall or other support surface to provide general illumination.
