<p>The mandrel uses a radially expansible segmental sleeve (2) mounted on a body (1) to secure work on a machine tool. The body has a front part (1a) with radial projections (1b) whilst the rear of each sleeve segment (21-25) is notched, and the projections co-operate with the notches to ensure mandrel rotation. The number of segments equals the number of projections and the segments may be connected by rubber laminates permitting the bonding together of the lateral faces by vulcanising or glueing. The body comprises three co-axial cylindrical parts (11,12,13) and a conical nose (1c), the aft part housing into a machine tool face plate (10) whilst the nose receives the sleeve. The notches may accommodate the projections with clearance (a) and the segment thickness (H) exceeds the projection upstand (h).</p> |
